    Restoration Design

Over the years, there have been many threads regarding Restoration Design replacement panels and poor customer service. I am currently restoring my 60 cab and have had to order some sheet metal. I want to pass on my experience.

Restoration Design has been sold and is now being operated out of Canada. The new owner has been first rate. He has been immediately available to my calls, the product has been good quality and the shipping has been near immediate. I was trying to find a rear seat clip which they do not make, and he even helped me locate the used sheetmetal I was looking for.

What ever reservations you may have had in the past, it appears they are in the past. My recent experience has been excellent.

    This is good news.

I heard that shipping from Canada involved a higher cost versus the U.S. Were your shipping and taxes reasonable?

We are contemplating stocking their products in Van Nuys and have been working with them to get some samples before placing a larger order. Our experience has been positive to date in terms of communication and professionalism, and I'm pleased to hear that folks are satisfied with product quality. We will be comparing fit and finish against parts available from a well-known mid-west supplier, with an emphasis on how well the parts fit from the perspective of the metal man (Kevin)!

I talked with him at Hershey also. He seems very aware of the past problems and is working to resolve the customer relations side of the business, I don't think that product quality was ever the issue. He also said to let them know what panels are most needed, as they intend to expand production. If you've ever wished that somebody produced a NLA part, this is a good time to let them know.

I bought the usual front suspension pan/gas tank support from RD within the last couple months. The parts fit well enough. The shipping on the other hand, was not such a good fit. Seems they prefer FedEx. From Buffalo (where they shipped from) To Tucson was about 30% more than the US Post office wanted. I had not requested nor had we discussed expedited (FEDEX) shipping. When I balked, it seemed to be a sore spot with them(MIKE) apparently not the first time he heard this complaint!. I got a hostile response, with no resolution. $150ish in shipping on $250ish in parts. Try Sierra Madre. At least they will at least kiss ya! Desertpagoda

i have to agree , although they are really getting in to the products BUT shipping from canada is a pain . It's bad enough that i get stuff shipped from LA to NZ but now if i want to use them it will be canada to LA to NZ.

I just received my front and rear pans today and only ordered them on Tuesday of last week. Mike was great on the phone and email. Shipping costs were very minimal, so small in fact I don't even remember how much. All good with me.

I want to add my own positive experience. I bought L + R inner and outer rockers,
L + R lower door skins, & front suspension pan package. All sent via courier to
Australia and the shipping costs were around half the cost of the sheet metal.

Mike was available when I called and had already packed my box before I paid
and also added the lower door skins which meant reboxing to fit the extra panels.

A big tick from me for this transaction.

The only surprise was that RD don't seem to manufacture all the panels, the rockers
were from Denmark (Dansk?) and the door skins from Stoddard. The suspension pan
components were unprimed and unmarked so I assume these were the only RD made
    parts.
