    Bob,

Do you know anything about the track's location?

Hopefully they're able to use as much natural hill country terrain as possible and it would certainly be nice if Hermann Tilke was completely shut out of this project.

QUOTE: "The U.S. Grand Prix is back. Austin, Texas will serve as the host city of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix from 2012 through 2021 in a purpose-built facility."

"For the first time in the history of Formula One in the United States, a world-class facility will be purpose-built to host the event. It was thirty years ago that the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix™ was last held on a purpose-built permanent road course circuit in Watkins Glen, NY (1961-1980), which enjoyed great success. Since then, Formula One has been hosted by Long Beach, Las Vegas, Detroit, Dallas and Phoenix all on temporary street circuits. Indianapolis joined the ranks of host cities in 2000 when they added a road course inside the famed oval. Lewis Hamilton won the last Formula 1 United States Grand Prix™ in 2007, signalling the end to eight years at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This however, will be the first time a facility is constructed from the ground up specifically for Formula One in the US."

If Ecclestone has the confidence to announce in May of 2010 that a a non-existent, purpose-built facility will be hosting a US FI GP in 2012, then I feel equally confident predicting that Team USF1 will win it.

The odds of either actually taking place are probably the same.

Robert Benchley, one of my favorite wits, drunks, curmudgeons and observers of the human condition once defined an optimist as a person who fervently believes we're living in the best possible of worlds, and a pessimist as someone who is convinced the optimist is right.

To prove my outlook isn't entirely negative, and in the very faint hope that something actually may come of this, I further announce here and now that it will be my great pleasure to buy you the biggest, coldest Lone Star you've ever had, at the track during the race.....or over dinner at the County Line Inn that Sunday evening.

Seems to me that the lead sponsor of this 1999 Le Mans winner was a company still based in Austin TX. I hear that the fellow who owned the company until quite recently came away from the transaction rather well-off and that he has gone into the car business. I wonder if that fellow might be interested in a Formula 1 Grand Prix in his home town...

Dude, your gettin' a Dell... powered Formula 1 USGP.

The tires killed the last USGP. Now not even Bridgestone is there. Will there be Formula 1 running on RA-1s?
