FS: 72T Low Miles Coupe on eBay - Why So Cheap?

I'll start by begging your collective pardons, but in my ongoing search for my first early-911 I came across the following on eBay. Why so cheap?

I have asked seller about the apparent mods (fender flares look off to my nascent eyes) but haven't received a response as of yet.

    Any input much appreciated.

Probably scamzilla. There aren't any cheap '72's on there now. I do recall something earlier with flares etc. but now gone. There seems to be a lot of bogus ads lately that get identified pretty quickly.

needs a PPI (don't they all?)

doesn't look like a bad car, but I don't trust the low mileage statement, lots of wear on the interior, seats, carpet, headliner, knobs and pedals.....and yes, those flairs look a bit off.

handwritten documentation by the most recent owner is not proof of low mileage... there's been a lot of work for a 33,000 mile car.

there are plenty of good wrenches around, suggest you let one of them give the car a once-over (Gene at Autohaus in chatham is a great choice) I expect you'll find bondo and rust.

    If you mean this one

where should I start? Why does it seem cheap?
    Let's see:
    1) no door pockets,
    2) Incorrect steering wheel
    3) no rear stabilizer which I believe should have come stock on the 72 model year for all models
    4) Repaint missing front windshield chrome moulding
    5) Cheap (crappy) aftermarket dash pad
For a 34000 mile documented car, the owner didn't do it any great favors by the low quality restoration.
What are the chances that the front spoiler is plastic too. The only thing I deal I see that intrigues me about this car are the sport seats...
PS And subtract points for the a/c...

It was indeed the '72 in Pompton Lakes, NJ. Thanks Karl for posting the link.

Thanks also to Lewis for the PPI recommendation. Should I proceed I'll definitely contact them.

Finally, thanks also to Gruen911 for the summary.

I think I have what I need, but for completeness, here's the response I received from the Seller:

    Dear ezedchicago,

We have the owners log book, there are a couple of pictures of it in our lisitng for example. Contained within are all service records from 5,000 miles to date. We have spoken to the previous owner about the car and has verified his entires and the fromer owners entires as well. We did not get the COA but would be nice to have one. The quarters have been flared to the RS look.

Yes, for a "documented" (in quotes because I'd like to see thorough proof of this) 34k mile car it should a. be in much better shape and b. not need a total engine rebuild unless it was poorly cared for. The wheels are wrong too. Doesn't appear to be that good of a car.

The "documentation" from what is shown is a statement that the 3rd? owner bought it from the a guy who purschased in in the 1982 with 5,450 miles. My guess: it had 105,450 miles in 1982. 10k/year..normal usage for a daily driver and a good reliable T from 1972-1982.
