If any of you are going to the Sonoma Historic Races next weekend...stop by my pit and say "hi", it would be fun to put a "face" to a "post."
I'll be running the GT in group 4A chasing some of the faster drivers.

Read my surf novel!
See you Saturday, John. It's beginning to look as if there'll be quite a Porsche presence there.
Supposed to be hot. Bring lots of water.
Best of Luck

Hi john...I'll see you there, however the car will not be there...I broke a LR shock driving the car up today or a rear plastic bushing. I was stuck in Buttonwillow for half a day. I had the car transported home, but Monique and I will continue up to the races and set up our pits and hang out. I'll fix it later to drive another day.
Tom...It's looking like I'll plenty safe!

bummer,
hope to see you anyway there...........
John glad you were able to press on and still enjoy the event.
Parked the day before the event due to a $10 part, that sux!
I'm in pit S-5 with a green tent. It feels kinda weird being here with no car.
Hopefully I'll see some of you.

Sorry to hear about John's as yet undiagnosed misfortune, but it certainly was a grand weekend. Thanks for the water, John.
Perfect weather, inspite predictions of gloom and doom attendance was quite good, quality of the participating cars was excellent, but mainly, one could really tell the prfessional hand of Steve Earl on the helm since he switched from running the Montery Historics to take charge of the Wine Country Classic, renamed the Sonoma Historic races. Everything was better and more spectator friendly.
From the standpoint of a local enthusiast, I can't believe our good luck: we now have a newly expanded high profile spring event to start the season off, followed by a world-class late summer gathering...all within a relatively short drive of home.

Thanks for looking, JZG

A few more of some of the more delectable specimens brought to race and stir memories:
1. One of Canepa's 935s
2. another of Canepa's museum pieces, the '68 "Jezebel"
3. Ed Palmer's ( Kundensport ) beautifully done Royal-blue 911 masterpiece -- brought for display only at this time, needs minor sorting
4. One of the very few surviving Reventlow Scarabs
5. The real thing,.....the original Ser. 003 John Mecom GS Corvette

Steve Earle has always run the June Vintage event at Infineon. I believe Infineon Raceways (the event owner) has re-emphasized this event and is working very closely with Sonoma County to promote the region's tourism opportunities.
Same wonderful grids of "imagine-cars" like 1275cc Bug-eye sprites, 1961 C-Modified racers built in 2002, and a fiberglass, full ground effect 1968 911 (with under car aerodynamics as seen on current Ferrari Cup Cars), etc. F.O.S. rules prevail.
