    Sourcing 2.0s Piston Rings

Progressing with our std/std rebuild on early (alu case) 68 2.0S engine that I got via Richard on this board. Ready now for piston rings. Are these difficult to find?? - Need a full set of OEM rings. If anyone can recommend a source where I can get a set that would be great!

    Thanks in advance.

These are pretty hard to find. I think I have a source.
They were able to find me a set of 80.5mm oversize
Mahle rings (although they haven't arrived as yet)

Send me an email through the board.

Chris - good to see you posting again !

Have you tried David Leopold (davidppp here & on DDK) in S Wales ?

Or Mike Bainbridge (MB Engineering) in Cumbria ?

I would like to know why no one seems to want to use Deves rings in their 911? I use them and am satisfied with them. Has anybody had a bad experience with them?

Doing a search for 'Deves' in the PP engine building forum is
    why I avoided them.

    2.0S Piston Rings

Several months ago, I contacted Total Seal (800) 874-2753 in Phoenix as I needed a set of 80mm rings for a 2.0 engine build. I installed a set of Mahle 906 pistons in my engine. They utilize the same width rings as the 2.0S Mahle pistons. When I checked Total Seal's web site, their online catalog showed that they carried the correct rings, however when I called to confirm, I was told that they did not have any in stock. I don't remember the name of the man that I spoke with at Total Seal, but he did follow up with me to let me know that they could make a set. Total Seal's lead time turned out to be too long for my project. So, after several other phone calls (Andial has not carried them for a very long time), I was able to piece together a complete set of Goetz rings (rings for 5 pistons from from EBS in Nevada and rings for one piston from a friend at a local Porsche mechanical shop). You may want to call Total Seal as I am not aware of many other options beside the Deves rings which several Porsche engine builders that I know said would not be their first choice. I hope this helps.
