Thread: eBay RSR build

    eBay RSR build

I would ordinarily think this auction was a spoof but the listing appears legit.

Car looks nice, running or not... and it looks like slide valve injection? Not sure...

    Thoughts?

Someone presumably spent a pile of money on the engine alone... that's slide throttle injection. Don't quite get how it's unfinished and never run.
Anyone in Chicago checked it out yet?

    I'd agree.
The motor alone (if correctly done and nearly complete) is worth the current auction price of ~$37k.

Whoever lands this beast will be getting a steal and a very high quality car by the looks of it.
Centerlocks, lollypop seat, external reservoir shocks, etc, etc.
I'd hate to think how much money is already in this car....
    A real "fire" sale.

I am in Chicago and happened to notice this auction yesterday after I was already home from work and way past it, not too far out of downtown Chicago, if they actually have a storefront.

    No Title
    No Vin

But, still at the price alot of correct looking parts!

Its definetly a legit auction, spoke with the auction house this week and they
organized a viewing on friday at 1;30 for prospective bidders at the owners
    location.
Apparently its a bankrupcy liquidation (court ordered) ,the vehicle thats
another story appears prettty close to RSR spec albeit with some later tech
The rims, suspension and engine alone outstrip current bid...

    WOW!!!!

    $125K!!!

Now that is more than I would have expected for that many questions. Maybe there is ALOT bigger story to this car than stated in the auction??

You'd have to think a lot of the bidders went and had a good look at the car in person.

It must of been of very, very high quality....which is what the pics on eBay imply anyway.

This car was built and raced "in period" which, I believe, really drove the price. Daytona, Sebring history, etc. It is a legitimate historic race car for 125K. Probably well bought.
