    Tribute to LeMans Endurance Race

Here are some of my photos from the Porsche Owners Club Tribute to LeMans weekend. Time Trials and a 4 hour endurance race on Saturday.

This is John Dilger and Mike Hammond in their early 1971 911S racecars.

The white car is Ira Ramin (Tarett Engineering) in his 1970 911S racecar.

The whole set of photos and videos can be viewed here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/max_911...7624094827745/

Please let me know if you want the full-size versions emailed to you, or you can just download the full-size version from Flickr.

Sorry that Flickr cuts off the video at 90 seconds. There is more where Mike drives off but it did not make the cut.

I also came to cheer for Dave Bouzaglou who was racing this 993 with two other co-drivers. (My Dad was not one of them. ;))

More nice early 911s -or at least "early" in the sense of fast air-cooled, 915/911 gearbox racecars

Great pics. Great weekend. Got a huge divet in my windshield. Lost a brake cooling duct somewhere on track. Love to hammer my 911E.

    I had two highlights --

On Saturday, I passed a student driving his GT2 coming out of Turn 2. I was running 140 HP. He was running 400+. That was SWEET!

On Sunday, coming out of Turn 2, some dolt in an SC tried to pass me too high in turn 2. Physics got him. Just as he was about to smack the wall at about 130 MPH, miraculously, his car lost traction in the marbles and he went spinning down the back straight. I saw him later, parked right next to the bathroom. I figured he was rinsing out his undergarments.

    See you in September!

Here are results from Dave Bouzaglou (TRE Cup):

The dark silver machine was just amazing to watch on the banking: Most anything else looked parked when it whooshed by them !

Doug Baron and Loren Beggs took 2nd with their GT3 RSR, after overcoming an early race wall tap.

Neil Alexander, Marty Mehterian, and Dwain Dement took 3rd in the "Emboldened Rat"- a heavily modified Boxster with a X51 "crate" motor in it

Us? we started, ahem.... rather late, had a tire valve problem, lost a couple laps, then played catch up after that. We had a blast, and drove our way back up to 13th oa, and 2nd on class. It was great fun playing with some of the other cars here and there . In an enduro, it should be about keeping fast consistent laps and less dicing, but the red mist takes over here and there

It was great to see so many friends from before. Now we are revved up and thinking Laguna Seca in August.
