    For sale - 1971 911S

Posting this with permission of seller. No affiliation other than wanting to help the seller. Disclaimer: I can't personally vouch for the seller or the car, as I have never met either. However, I've had several email exchanges starting last fall when I was looking, and he seems like a genuinely decent guy. A major plus for me at the time was that he lives relatively close.

I'm not familiar with Leadfoot Motors, but I've done business with Akers for many years and they are a very reputable, top-tier Seattle shop. They can probably fill you in on the car.

    Regards,

    - MR

Cut from his email to me:

    Dear Porsche enthusiast,

Each of you have inquired about my 1971 Porsche 911S since it went up for sale several months ago. I mentioned that I would stay firm on the asking price until the summer. With summer approaching I will now be taking offers on the car. The current asking price is $39,000 USD.

Links to two online image galleries are below as well as a detailed history of the car.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best Regards,

    1971 Porsche 911S

    Purchased 4/2/05.

    VIN 9111 301 242
    Engine # 6106088
    94,700 miles.

Built between Sept 1970 and August 1971 and is the 188th car off the line (11,928 cars built during this period, 9111300001-9111301430). Original color “Bahia Red” (#1313G).

    Restoration work totaling over $36,000:

    • Bare metal body restoration (in 2005) re-sprayed in stunning Porsche color “Horizon Blue Metallic”. Restoration includes all new rubber seals, new front windshield and custom painted engine. Body has matching serial numbers.

    • 5,000 miles on completely rebuilt S engine and transmission (in 2007).

    • Original Fuchs wheels with custom polish.

    • All original un-restored interior in good condition.

    • Stainless steel dual exhaust including custom bodywork. The
new open exhaust gives the car a bit more horsepower and sounds great.

    • Many other repairs and improvements, including: new fuel pump, oil pump
& master cylinder, new door compartment bungees & heater cables, repaired
horn & driver’s window mechanism. I have all receipts.

    Issues:
    • Minor rock chips on front end (this is a driver’s car).
    • Some cracking of leather on dash and seats.
    • Some rust on the passenger side rocker. The pan is in good shape.

Owner history, based on receipts and is incomplete. Receipts date to 1979:
    • F.P. Jezbera, Freeport, IL 1979-1989
    • Deric Gwinn, Bonney Lake, WA 2001-2003

'tis indeed the same car. Seller was admittedly testing market on price, which was higher than I was willing to spend. Hence, why I never looked at the car.

That is strange, the engine 6106088 is a 1970 911T originally.
9111301242 is not the the 188th car off the line but 188th from the end of the line for the S's, and why would this matter.

Does this mean that all VIN locations on the car match? I would think this is table stakes.

Well I took it to mean that it could be a non matching engine because that is not what was said. It seems you have to be Noam Chomsky to read these vintage 911 ads.

To clear it up, this is what the current owner told me some time ago:

"The engine has all the high performance S components: Cams, heads, valves, high compression pistons, mechanical fuel injection, steel crankshaft, and magnesium transmission case. The block however is from a 1970 T for reasons unknown. Since the engine restoration the engine guts are of course, no longer original. During the rebuild what was replaced were all the existing S components I mentioned above. And I should mention that the engine runs beautifully. The car is very fast and sounds amazing. I drove it at Bremerton Raceway twice this summer and I was blown away at how well the car goes."

No disrespect to the seller but it sounded like a little clarification was in order. Not sure why the guy here would take this on and not make it clear? Seems like a good sound car if that's what you're looking for.

If you are referring to me, then frankly I didn't bother to do any research on the car since the original asking price was more than I wanted to pay and the owner wanted to hold on price at the time. Hence, my big (no knowledge) disclaimer. I posted this soley to give back to the community and to give the seller some additional exposure, since he seemed like a straightshooter and was gracious in his corresponence with me. I would suggest anyone seriously interested at least touch bases with Akers. Also, the seller is aware of this thread so he can elaborate if he'd like.
