I'm a bit biased here, but since I'm making an Irish Green ST, that would be my vote.

Like Brooke, I have a ST project underway which will be painted the same color as the donor tub, Aubergine.
I would be hard pressed to dislike any of the period colors.
65 356SC Dolphin Gray
66 912 Green
69 911E Tangerine
72 911T GP White
72 911T Aubergine
72 911T Lilac
72 911S Black (voodoo)
86 911 GP White Targa (now sons)
90 964C4 Black Targa
94 964C2 Black Coupe
08 GT3 Speed Yellow
Would love to have seen Frank's car as an ST. Slate gray would be neat too.

I'd probably go with a blue ... Gulf, perhaps, or my trusty Dalmatian Blue.
Although, with that much fender Aubergine would look tasty.

Randy,
First off, regardless of the color, the quality of the car will speak the loudest, and we all know that the quality will be there knowing your cars.
However, I think something more unique would be what I would do. So, you could do a modest color and then do a unique interior color, or a wilder color exterior and then a more subtle interior.
Thinking of colors, here's the choices I would have on my list:
Dalmation Blue
Gulf Blue
Slate
Chartreuse (Marty Diefenbach had an RS this color)
Purple (Perry Lee's color, I forget the actual color name)
If I was in the market for your car when done, I would think it a plus to have a wilder color. To me a more sedate color might give me pause...
c-ya...
