I have shown against Carol for the last couple of years and she presents her cars very, very well. Feel free to tell her that I recommended her shop to you.

    Regards,

    Thanks for your PPI suggestion.

Tom actually was my first choice, despite the fact he's the seller's mechanic. However, he's apparently on vacation for a couple weeks.

If I can't find an alternative who can do it quicker then I might still go with him. So if you have personal experience with him I'd love to hear about it.

Search Pelican for "Tom Amon" for additional references..

Tom rebuilt my 72T engine a couple of years ago - flawless..

    very knowledgeable and respected..

You can also try Jerry Woods Enterprises in Campbell, CA, which is a small municipality basically surrounded by San Jose.

Have never used him, but he is supposed to be very knowledgeable.

I have only heard good things about Tom, but ... for a PPI, I would go with someone else. The point is to have a 3rd party, who is independent. Your choice, but there are lots of good honest mechanics who can perform a PPI. Its mostly for peace of mind, as you will already have checked it out yourself.

PPI in San Jose -- Complete

Thanks all for input into my PPI query.

I went with Tony Heyer and was very happy with his responsiveness and thoroughness. Also helpful that he's done many PPIs so could provide good guidance on the car's condition vs. other offerings, which was critical to my purchase decision.

Unfortunately, he identified several warts, so I'm still looking for my first early-car...
