    Vintage NASCAR ......

When men raced in their underwear. This is Woody 'Woodpecker' Coleman who apparently always raced in shorts and usually no shirt

Gotta love that thick post war American metal...

Heck I'm not that old and still remember my dad laying down the back seat and letting my brothers and I roll around on our way to the lake while my mom chain-smoked. We could even fall asleep as we rolled around in the back. Things have changed yes. For the better I'm not sure but they have changed.

I bet that was impressive back then... "look at him honey he's a real race car driver. You can tell by the shoes, shorts and riding helmet" lol

Great photo. I love the Woody Woodpecker on the hood. Is that Daytona (Beach)? Road racing with left turns only...

I have early memories of standing in the middle of the bench seat of Dad's '58 Plymouth, the dash-top mirror waiting to impale me on my way through the windshield, both parents with a Salem blazing away and an elbow out the window...

I know this was 1957, don't know where. The 4-digit phone #'s are classic. It looks like it rolled a couple of times. I wonder if he even had a lap belt? Probably not - just grab the steering wheel tight and hold on for the ride. Walked away unscathed in any case
