    1968 911s

1968 Porsche 911S. Certificate of Authenticity report from Porsche. VIN 11800358. Clear title-titled as a 1967-this car was finished 11/02/67 but is actually a 1968 model. Factory S with Sportomatic option, light ivory with red leatherette interior (affectionately called elephant skin by Porsche enthusiasts- exclusive to 1968) According to the COA, the engine is non matching but very close. The S engine that I have is 4080983. It was rebuilt in 1993 and I have receipts for rings, pistons, jugs, hydraulic chain tensioners, rocker arm assembly, etc. The engine was removed at a later date for a complete gasket set installation and carb rebuilt but the work was never completed and the engine never reinstalled. The engine is complete from original Weber 40IDS carbs, S distributor, to exhaust. The engine turns freely. The Sportomatic transmission had been removed long ago and converted to a manual transmission. I have an uninstalled 902/1 type transmission number 222035. The car still retains the S ventilated brakes, Koni shocks, Sportomatic tank in the engine compartment, original seats, etc. Even the 1968 only door handles are still on the car. Rare factory option wood steering wheel. S models usually have a higher rpm tach-I'm not sure if these are the original gauges and Sportamatics had a lower redline or perhaps the gauges were changed out at a later date. It has RSR metal fenders that were installed many years ago. A late model rear bumper was installed but could easily be removed for a more retro look. The body itself has very little rust and is very straight. A couple of very small spots on the body have been amateurishly repaired. The rocker panels show some bubbling and some pinholes. The floorpans have been patched in the rear and by the pedal cluster. The front pan has been patched and reinforced.
This would be a great project Porsche 911S. 1968 S models are very rare and wern't imported by the factory to the United States. This car could be a base for either a RSR replica using a true S model and engine or could be restored to all original with more effort and money. Lots of pics at this link.

I'm selling this car as a complete car with the S engine and 902/1 transmission. Price-$20k.

    A little bump

Seller, where is the car located?

This is an interesting one: An Euro 68 S coupe with non-matching engine and a chassis that needs a complete restoration (or a further conversion). A sporto nontheless! but now a manual.

Lots of good photos in your link but limited ones of the floor pan and jack points. Good luck.

The car is located in Atlanta, Ga. I'll try to upload more pics to my link. Both floorpans have large patches as well as by the pedal cluster

Those look like 930 flares, by the way. And I take it the front bulkhead of the chassis was changed as the car is now a short-hood.

Glad you sold it. I hope the new owner has fun with it.
