    Source for shift knobs

Looking for a NOS or re-pop 5 speed shift knob for a 73 car. I know somebody has a excellent reproduction.

    Gearknobs

These have been re-manufactured by Porsche and should be available from you local OPC under part number 911.424.071.01. The 'expansion rings' is still NLA.

The 901 gear knob is also available as if the very eraly plain black gear knob.

I think the price is about $75 + Sales Tax.

I think that there should be a suitable tolerance ring available from a bearing stockist.

I will measure a Porsche one and see if I can fins a suitable manufacturer/part number.

I got one of Allan's knobs for my 73 earlier this year and am VERY happy with it

it does need a crush ring to mount - My old knob had a short crush ring which i chose not to use but i bought a new long one from Porsche for a nominal amount.
the longer one may be a later year one (74?) but fits perfectly and was available at the counter - not even at the warehouse or back order at Porsche here in Melbourne.

The original tolerance ring was 999.532.001.00 and is unavailable.

The later one is, indeed, available and is 999.532.003.00.

    Hugh, Thanks.

The correct Porsche knob is back ordered at the moment from Stoddard. They are about $200. I PM'ed Allan about one of his, but have not heard back from him.
