    Thumbs up Bob's Jr.

Beautiful 'summerish' night here in SoCal....
Drove the old yellow Chevy down the street to the local Bob's Jr. Friday hot rod night....

Parked next to a beautiful black 'big block'......

    Cheers

Not fair! I was driving through snow in northern Mich yesterday ...

BTW: your car looks SO MUCH better than the resto-mod big-wheel SS parked next to you! Love the stock rallye wheels.

This is how to keep a retired and divorced old fellow busy. Oh plus my golf clubs.

1972 911 SCT (twin plug 3.0L), 1965 Corvette (with 392 Chrysler Hemi), 1993 Classic Mini Cooper (1380 cc twin carb) plus my Kayak

    Curious about the Corvette.
My dad used to race a McKee Can Am car with a 392. Before the 426 it seems like this big, heavy motor got re-purposed often.

I agree, seems like a curious choice for the Vette...
IMHO - '65 was the pinnacle for the Vette in small block form - The 375 HP fuelie !!!
We put one in a '55 two door post back in the '60's... and it tore your lungs out...

My 'new' commuter car is a '15 GTI two door 6 speed.... Bought it off a lot a few months ago...
The car came with brand new cheepass Atlas tires that I can get screaming in about 5 minutes up in the hills on a warm day...
However, even with crap tires I can do about 75% of the 911... amazing...

Good tires and less ugly wheels will come soon...

And.... The next time I'm up in the hills I need to remember to push the 'sport mode' button...

The story I got when I bought the corvette was: The fellow who lived in the SFO Bay area, who built all the Hemi engines for the drag racers, was given the 65 chassis with no running gear. It was pushed into the back of his shop for years. Finally the young guys working there talked him into dropping a Hemi into the car, just a stock street engine from a 57 Imperial. They added a stock 4 spd and stock 8.75" solid rear axle. It was only driven a few times before the owner passed away. The car was willed to a friend who had a small car collection who keep it for a few years before deciding to sell it. That's when I stumbled on it. Since I like "sleepers" , and owned a 65 fifty years ago, it was a perfect fit. The purist don't like it but they don't like my 72 911 or my 93 Classic Mini either, TOUGH
