Gentlemen, i have a 1972 2.4T engine at home.
engine #0082, i think it is very early, youngest datestamp on the castings is 12/70.
engine castings have a lot of oxidation on the inside.
is it worth saving the original block because it is very early for a 72 block?

it will take a lot of elbow grease to clean this in side to get it ready for a rebuild.

any ideas on how to get rid of a sand like oxidation all over the indide casting, even in the oil drillings? it can not be just cleaned off. it needs some kind of mechanical cleaning.

thanks for the advise
