1400-Mile Sprint to Cars & Coffee (And Back!)

Took a little roadtrip this weekend with Jared and Bill to the 'other side of the lake' for 2-Shores Cars & Coffee Sunday AM in Lake Mills, WI. About 1400-1500 miles roundtrip.

Overnight in Iron Mountain, MI. Then on the road Sat morning to find some good twisty backroads in Northern Wisconsin.

And we did find some world-class forest twisties that were worth the drive in and of themselves!

    1. The Michigan contingent.
    2. Breakfast in Laona at a sterotypical northern Wisconsin eatery!
    3. Lost.
    4. Met up with the Wisconsin contingent for lunch.
    5. Scott Z's awesome 67S doing it's very first run after restoration.

    2. Scott Z's 67S motor
    3. The Graywolf felt like an out-of-towner after it's long stint in Cali.

    5. Successful shakedown runs for both the newbies (this is the high-speed portion of the day's competition.)

Cool cars and pics, and this has to set a distance record for or to a coffee run.

. . . especially for those of us who've never been to the Upper Peninsula (or North of St Louis, for that matter ).

What kind of MPG did you Guys get?

And any 'dirty' (car) shots to share . . . besides that, um, mosquito?

I really didn't get many photos Rick. The good stuff in the UP is way up in the Keweenau Peninsula, another 3 hours north (see 1st photo from a different road trip last year).

Pic #2: My favorite find by far was County Road Q (near Rolling Stone Lake in Northern WI). Narrow, excellent asphalt, rolling elevation changes and several miles long thru the forest. No houses, no traffic! Mostly 3rd gear so very fast. I could have run that road all day long. We only scratched the surface of what is available in that area!
