    1971 911E...new toy!

Its been a few weeks since I picked this up but the weather has only recently been nice enough to get it outside and stretch its legs. The car is a '71E coupe, very high quality tangerine respray, sport seats and what appears to be 40,000 original miles. The cibies are original and word has it that the RS front spoiler is a factory piece. The E has spent most of its life in California so I'm hoping someone here may know some history on the car. The sport seat insterts have been recovered in an incorrect material. As soon as I figure out what to replace it with, I'll get them into my upholsterer and have them properly restored. The three choices are courdoroy, basket weave or tartan. I know tartan may not be correct for the year but if I find just the right color combos, I think it would be a winning combination in this car!

Mechanically, everything appears to be stock. The MFI 2.2 has very nice power delivery especially over 4K RPM and the 901 shifts like butter with the exception of the slightest grind if you shift into first while still moving. The S brakes are superb in this application and the 7x15 fuchs give it a great stance.

I've done a few things to the car, mostly sorting little bits from when it was assembled after its light restoration. Otherwise, I have some basic maintenance planned as well as replacing the suspension bushings.

Its very refreshing to finally aquire a car that does NOT need a full blown restoration!!!!

    Pics to enjoy

Wow, that is a very nice car. I like the wheel arch trim and RS front spoiler look. Agreed the original perforated bolsters deserve better material between them. Have fun with it.

Looks great! I'm sure someone in Washington with an RSR would love to have that plate. Drive it down to Oregon I've got some great roads to hit.

my mother always said I should be a doctor... little did she know I should have been a dentist!

Chris, it is beautiful but doesn't appear to need any welding. Are you sure it is the right car for you?

    Regardless enjoy!
