    Happy Fiftieth

Going from what Brian Redman had to say about 'company cars' . . .

    . . . and what little documentation I've collected . . .

. . . I'm guessing that 1059 was probably originally delivered sometime around April 1970

Dunno the exact date, but, well --- today's the first day of April 2020, so . . .

    . . . I'll just make today The Nasty Car's birthday

    NOS Rear Wiper Kit . . .

    . . . been hoping to put-together one o' these forever. 1059 came with a Faktory rear wiper, so . . .

Kinda resigned myself to cobbling something together --- I have all the bits (I think) but been looking for someone to re-hab the wiper motor . . . not exactly promising

    Instead? --- scored the whole kit-'n-kaboodle! . . .
    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...two-available)

    Kit-'n-kaboodle consists of . . .
1)..wiper arm (silver --- but we'll re-use the nasty/tattered/matching black one that came with the car) (p/n unknown)
    2)..Linkage (p/n unknown)
3)..2x wiring harnesses --- when John put the car back together, he'd mentioned that all the OG harnesses were still intact, so these may not both be needed (p/ns 911 612 025 00 and 911 612 031 00)
    4)..Wiper motor-cum-mounting bracket --- Man, that bit looks good . . . NOS = huge relief, too (p/n 911 628 061 01)

This is the Nasty Car's last missing mechanical feature --- been 7 years . . .

    I am SO stoked

Really nice! I love rear wipers on any 911. Since your car had one when new, there would be no question in my mind about refitting one. I retro-fitted one to my '84 Carrera years ago. Would think about doing it to my '72, but the early rear wipers are incompatible with the A/C condenser on factory A/C cars like mine. I think the factory A/C will have to take precedence. Probably more useful once I update it.

    Not 'NOS' . . .

    . . . the stuff that came with the 1059 + the bits I'd scrounged over the interval . . .

Between the 'new' and the 'not' --- + Marco . . . hoping all this will work out

    Service #7 . . .

    Going in, next Monday --- sent this e-mail, already . . .

    . . . Hello, Marco . . .

Here’s the list of items to check for this service

    1) Install rear wiper --- see included kit . . .
    ..a. Two wiring harnesses
..b. Wiper motor + bracket assembly
    ..c. Linkage arm
    ..d. Pivot + bushing
    ..e. Wiper arm + blade
..f. As far as I know, the wiring and switch for the rear wiper were left intact, when John did the body + paint, 10 years ago. You will have to put a hole in the rear deck to allow the wiper arm to attach to the pivot. You may also have to modify the struts that hold the deck up

    2) Replace all four road tires
    ..a. Pirelli CN-36 --- 185/70s?
..b. Nitrogen fill --- I know, I know --- total hassle . . . but the tires just last a lot longer and I don’t worry about them rotting or otherwise falling apart internally
    ..c. Leave the spare intact

    3) Check a graunching noise in the rear
    ..a. Trailing arm bushings?

    4) Oil + filter change --- Brad Penn

    5) Other repairs as required
..a. Flush + replace brake + clutch hydraulics
..b. As usual, give the car a good ‘look-over’ --- call me with anything else that you think needs attention

I’m in no hurry --- so take your time. The rear wiper install should be interesting so lemme know how that goes . . . maybe take some pictures + supply some details? It’s not something that gets done every day, so share what you can? And have fun with it!
    . . .

I think you'll love the new CN36's Rick...

The 185 x 70's would be the size the car came with.... just right
