    More One . . .

    Not much traffic . . . so far --- and did I mention that I love Mondays? . . .

And it doesn't take long to get into rhythm

I bust no moves --- but if The One were a dance? . . . then I would think it was a Tango

    By turns smooth/slinky/kinda quiet --- a little tense, maybe? . . .

    Then?

    Wham/swing/swoop . . . almost violent

    . . . like passing . . .

    Cha-cha-cha . . .

    20mi/32km = 30/48

    30/48 = 45/72

    Faster . . . if you're not holding a camera

    . . . and don't forget about those psychlists!

I wasn’t sure how 1059 was gonna handle all this

    Well-OK --- honestly? . . . my expectations were pretty low

Old Nasty Car + kooky weight distribution + 901 + gears-that-I-could-run-Bonneville-with = did not bode well. Factor in my driving skills, narrow tires, and the trepidation/apprehension/terror of taking a car Out Here that I can’t replace? . . . . . . . . you get the idea

    But

    Actually

The Nasty Car did pretty good. Marco’s tuning of the MFI is still spot-on --- 1059’s no torque-monster . . . but she can pull 2nd outta any corner here --- as smoothly/effectively as you like. Plus the LSD really hooks-up --- can hear/feel the back bite

And when the road opens up? Bam!

    Plus --- w/ the cliff walls right there + half-the-time? . . .

    What

    A

    Noise

Really fun 'drive.' Can have fun in just about anything --- even a rental

    Clear sight-lines --- mostly

Good signage --- if I'm paying attention

Road surface is exceptional, too. Today, anyway

    Occasional reminders of time/place . . .

    . . . but the 'other stuff'? . . .

    My kinda Monday

I may never make it to the 'Ring, but --- in the mean time . . .

    Nürburg Ring = 17.56 mi/28.3 km + 174 turns

    The One = 90 mi/145 km + 381 turns

    Deutschland's may be gruener --- but ours has . . . . landslides. For millenia --- this whole area's been a battlefield . . . the land always losing. And The One wanders through it all . . . a more-than-occasional casualty

Kleptoforia's been a swipe-of-a-credit-card away from insolvency --- for years, now, so . . . no idea why CalTrans bothers, here . . . but bless their hearts

El Ninos' wash stretches of it away almost every year . . . and they re-pave it

Rocks fall on it just about all the time . . . and they sweep it clear --- right away. And check out that cliff-side . . . steel-cable catch-netting

And then BIG parts'll just --- fall into the sea. They'll carve a new one

    Why?

    Why ask why?

    Gorda . . .

. . . is an unincorporated community in Monterey County, California . . . It is located 3 miles (4.8 km) north of Cape San Martin,. . . at an elevation of 148 feet (45 m) . . . It is one of the three small settlements of gas stations, restaurants, and motels located along State Route 1 on the Big Sur coast. The ZIP Code is 93920, but mail must be addressed to Big Sur . . .

. . . As of April 26, 2008, Gorda had the highest gas prices in the United States at $6.70 per gallon. Part of this cost goes to subsidize the 100 gallon per day diesel generator fuel bill for the town . . .

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorda,_California

Never had to get gas, out here. I almost always tank-up in SLO, coming-up --- Carmel, going down

    You've been warned . . .
