Yeah-yeah --- Marco likes 'em, too

All I know is --- the Vreds that are on there now are 10 years old (!) . . .

. . . + --- AFAIK . . . this may be the first time Pirellis have been on the car since it was new?

I only have the harness that goes to the wiper motor. I’m in need of the wiring that goes to the switch if you can help with either your old one or new one. I also hope to see pictures of the wiring connections in the engine bay and routing to the dash from the tunnel.

    Rear Wiper Install

    Hey, Olin . . .

Marco 's on this board and I'm sure he can appreciate our curiosity. I think he and Tony were doing this same install on one of their cars, at one time, so he knows how this kind of stuff works. I'll try to share as much detail + as many photos as I can get away with --- starting from the dash back

(Have to tell ya . . . I don't even know which dash switch works the rear wiper!)

Just keep in mind that this car came from the Faktory with the rear wiper set-up, so ---- regarding some of the wiring you're asking about . . . all there may be to see is stuff poking out from inside places = nothing to see but the connections

And I remember us talking about rear wiper bits . . .

There 'll be bits left-over = I'll pass along what I can. As for the wiring --- I was hoping to find a vendor who'd be interested in 'cloning' the NOS harnesses . . . or, at least taking detailed pictures + measurements so that duplicates could be made, at some point. Not sure how much interest there would be for something like that; for me, the critical piece in all of this had always been the wiper motor

    Anyway --- stay tuned . . .

    CN36 --- Another Take . . .

    . . .
    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...r-disappointed

I don't race or slalom or track my cars --- I just drive 'em a lot, almost always on regular streets + highways, maybe at higher speeds sometimes, but nothing that really stresses 'em to their limits. Besides, for me? --- tires are 'consumables' . . . I throw 'em away when they're used-up/timed-out (like the 10-year-old Vreds that are on there now) . . .

    . . . so --- I don't get attached to tires

'As long as they hold air' . . . if you know what I mean

Having said that, I've commented previously about the 'lack of feel' on the Vreds. I'm WAY more timid on tossing this car into corners than any other car I've owned. Only had her sideways a coupla times, but I didn't really enjoy those experiences . . . or expect them

My yard-stick, here, is my 318iS --- a car that I've owned since '04. I've totally 'done' the suspension on this car --- shocks + mounts, springs, welded-in chassis re-enforcements, bushings, bars + mounts, brakes . . . even added a limited-slip and '+2' wheels + tires. Now, a 30-year-old car, w/2600 lbs + 130-ish HP may not sound very promising . . . but for me this car pretty-much defines the term tossable. Whatever this little missile lacks in power + presence it more than makes-up for in sheer usability, and is just about the most entertaining device I've ever stuck my butt in

I don't expect the 911 to have that same kind of handling --- I didn't buy it for that, nor do I use it that way . . . but I would like to feel a bit more comfortable pushing her into a corner or tossing her down a bumpy road. I'll admit that the Vreds were a cost/availability choice --- but they did the job I bought them for . . . they got me cross-country . . .

    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...%2C+costa+mesa

. . . and have held-up for the ten years since. All things considered? . . . I got WAY more than my money's worth

    As for the CN36s? --- well . . . 'Pirelli' 's what's on my Kardex. I know-I know --- not exactly a well-considered or even informed choice, but? . . .

. . . I'm not really interested in improving or updating this car, like --- at all. I've sprinkled a few bangles, here + there, but I try very-very hard to keep 1059 the way it was when Porsche first built her. So. If 1059 had Pirellis when she was new? --- then I'd try to find comparable Pirellis, now

    Luckily --- or not? . . . Pirelli is releasing CN36s, again

Now, different people have had different opinions/experiences with these tires, but --- my choice isn't really a choice

Pirellis are what Porsche built the car with, so . . .

    . . . we'll see

    Stay tuned
