    Kardex

Another reason to get that 'production number'

    Sent out today . . .

    . . . Dear Sir

I am looking for your advice and assistance.

    I am the owner of . . . .

    ..1970 Porsche 911S
    ..Production Number = 1002454
    ..VIN = 9110301059
    ..Eng# = 6301439
    ..Trans# = 7107346

I have enclosed pictures of 9110301059’s details, and included a copy of the vehicle’s current valid registration with my name listed as the owner.

I have been putting together the history of 9110301059. According to information received from Bundesamt für Strassen ASTRA, in Switzerland, 9110301059 was registered in Switzerland, beginning 29.12.1971. In my research, I have found the names of four previous owners . . .
    ..H Mazza _____ 1971 --- 1982? ___ Davos, Switzerland
    ..D Anderson ___ 1982? --- 1984 ___ Northridge, California, USA
    ..L Scalzo _____ 1984 --- 1986 ____ Miami, Florida, USA
    ..M Allbaugh ___ 1986 --- 2009 ____ Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
    ..R Kreiskott ___ 2009 --- current __ Tustin, California, USA

I have the history of the car since it left Switzerland; all that is missing is when + how it got there. Your name came up in my research, and so, I am contacting you to determine how best to obtain whatever information that Porsche has about my car --- specifically . . .
..1) the original build date for 9110301059
..2) the list of its original equipment + options
..3) the original market where it was delivered to
    ..4) the original selling agent/dealer
..5) a copy of the Kardex for 9110301059

I would very much appreciate any help or advice that you can offer.

    Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely, etc . . .

    Fingers crossed

Have you thought of taking all this info with you, in person, to Stuttgart? Make an appointment with the Archives... see the Museum, factory tour, etc.

I imagine you can cajole what you need out of the right people face to face.

Your determination and enthusiasm would be hard to turn away...

Yeah . . . trying to avoid The Big Trip

Besides . . . I've got this uneasy feeling that --- after flying all the way Out There . . . all I'll be allowed to do is hand-write a copy o' some nasty old dog-eared scrap o' paper . . . which would kinda pi$$ me off

And then --- if I did make that trip? --- I'd prolly swing by Der Schweitz + give Sr Mazza a coronary . . . while I'm at it

    This is cheaper

PS I've still got two more letters to write, so . . .

    Kardex Reply.1

    Gotta love e-mail

    Came this AM . . .

    . . . Dear Mr Kreiskott,

    . . . . 1970 Porsche 911S
    . . . . Production Number = 1002454 is correct
    . . . . VIN = 9110301059
    . . . . Eng# = 6301439 is original
    . . . . Color 8383 = greenmetallic
    . . . . Interior 12 = leatherette black/corduroy
    . . . . delivered Dec.'69
    . . . . listed dealer 100 = factory use
    . . . . options
    . . . . 185 = safety belts
    . . . . 220 = limited slip differential
    . . . . 425 = rear wiper
    . . . . 463 = Blaupunkt Köln
    . . . . 470 = Comfort-equipment
    . . . . 568 = colored windows
    . . . . 651 = power windows

we have no information what the car was used for,
    and nothing about the history!

    mit freundlichen Grüßen . . .

    Wow . . . where to start

First off --- sure beats the hell outta paying/waiting for a stupid CoA. Not as decorative, maybe . . . but helluva lot cheaper. AND? . . . one day service. (!) Very impressed + that this response includes the option codes, too . . . makes me feel like somebody had their eyeballs on the actual Kardex to list them like that

    Getting warmer

And it looks like 1059 came w/ a radio, originally. Puzzled by this, at first. I’ve read that proper Faktory antenna installs are on the driver’s side ¼ panel . . . but 1059’s is on the opposite --- which is where a dealer would usually do it, after. But then I remembered that John’d found an original Faktory-primed replacement panel on that corner, when he was doing the re-finishing --- 1059’d apparently been in a shunt, w/ both front + rear left-side quarters found to’ve been replaced . . . so any radio install in there now would be a re-do, post-accident. Anyway, now . . . add a proper Köln to The List

delivered Dec.'69’ --- ? Earlier than I was expecting. Lots. Gotta ping davep. And since the car doesn’t show-up in Switzerland ‘till Dez ’71 = two years un-accounted for. Niiiiiice

    listed dealer 100 = factory use’ . . . . customer pick-up, at the factory, maybe? Or a dealer demo-beater = original Faktory-primed replacement panel. Gulp

    470 = Comfort-equipment’ . . . criminy --- not that, again

    Anyway . . . more to do . . .

    . . . + questions

    Yeah-yeah, I know-I know --- light-weight/special/fragile alu lid + heavy/clunky/funky elec motor-cum-linkage + wiper arm hanging off it = stupid! . . .

    . . . but, ask Yourself . . .

. . . 'If The Faktory did it? --- how stupid can it be?'

    Besides . . .

    . . . I actually have one --- a genuine Faktory alu lid originally outfitted w/ rear wiper . . . . . . . . just 'cause . . .

Good thing that there's, like, 5-or-6 other things in front, huh? . . .

    . . . 'cause Some Day . . .

Factory power antenna was on the right fender. Manual antenna was on the left. Which do you have ?

That Koln radio was the Cadillac of Blaupunkt back in the day. It had a seek features on the radio, similar to the Becker Mexico. You push a button and the dial moves until it locks in on a station. Impressive engineering for 1969. They're still around if you are needing one.
