    Trim

With the panels and gaps set (and me ready to set up an 'intervention'), John went after --- the body trim.

    I can't look . . . almost.

    More Trim . . .

    Here's the other side . . .

    This really is sick.

I'm sick -- for looking at this.

    And now?

    You're sick, too.

Very impressive. Thanks for this thread Rick -- and you're lucky to have a resource like John in your backyard.

    Hi, Jonesy . . .

    Ain't that right.

John's attention to detail, diligence and just plain hard work are totally amazing. I mean, I'm not doing a restoration, here --- basically, all this wonderful work . . . constitutes a re-spray.

I think they are just to add extra material back there for license plate hardware. I doubt Porsche would have had mismatched metals so, alum for alum lids; steel for steel lids.

I love reading this thread!.....Great write up, just enough color, and you capture most of my personal anal retentiveness. Good to know I'm not alone.

    Bumpers

1059 came with the later-style spoilered S-type front bumper, which was un-hit and in excellent condition, and actually looks pretty good on the car, but . . . it's not the right one for a '70. So. When John found a correct original bumper in comparable condition (next door), we talked about it. I thought I was gonna paint the spoilered one, and hang it up on the wall, next to the steel lid, too.

But honestly, I'm soooo done collecting parts I'll never use. So we traded for Tony's.

The rear bumpers were spotless and un-hit, also, so they just go right back on.

I'm including a shot of the inside of one of the rears. The original undercoating, over-spray --- as well as all general wear-and-tear from the last 40-years --- are staying.

I actually like all the dirt and general mayhem --- 1059 is still a regular car.

    Now . . . Paint

    Done with panels.

    Done with gaps.

    Now, as John says . . . . . . . . it's show-time.

    These just came over.

I know, I know ---- its just a jumble of pictures and angles right now, but John was so excited, that he had to call me when he'd finished, just to tell me.

I'm excited, too, so I'm just passing it along.

I'll try to compose something a bit more coherent later, but right now, just look at all the wonderful color! . . . .

    This is fresh base-coat
