    MINI Carmel Concours Event

I received a call from Doug Freedman, organizer of the Carmel Concours with some news. The full show has still been canceled due to the loss of a major sponsor, but with encouragement from the city of Carmel, a smaller event, called The Limited Edition Event, has been scheduled. It will take place on the same date as the original show - Tuesday, August 10. Doug has invited 30 cars from past shows to participate and they will be displayed on Ocean Avenue in wide slots at 65 degree angles, the same setup as the concours event.

Doug has invited me to show my '67 Sports Purposes Rally build in an interesting way. As some will recall, the car was featured in an article in Excellence Magazine a while back as the transformer: it can take on a number of configurations, including rally, track, street and hill climb, with various additions and deletions of equipment. We will be displaying the car along with all of the extra equipment and will be doing some equipment changes during the display. The intent is to make it interactive and dynamic, as opposed to the typical static car show display.

The Limited Edition Event will be open for public viewing from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm. I hope to see many of you there!

    Cheers,
    John Audette
