    Bouncing speedo needle help

After fixing the odometer on my 70 911e, the speedometer needle started bouncing at take off and up to 30mph, then smooths out.
The needle functioned properly before the odometer fix.
Using a drill at the disconnected gauge the needle is fine, no bouncing.
Using a drill on the cable at the transmission disconnect the needle bounces.
Is replacing the cable the fix or could it be something simpler? (I hope)

    Thanks,
    Bud

Mine did the same. I found the cable was loose on the end going into the speedo. Even though I thought it was tight when I put in my new cable, it was slightly misaligned and tightening it got it recentered. Should be easier on a 70; on my 69 I had to disassemble air system because of 356 style brackets which hold the instruments in place from the back. Could also be on the drive side. Good luck.

    That was it!
Tightened it at the speedo ever so slightly.
Way easier than replacing the cable.

    Many thanks greens!
