    Pedal Stop Adjustment

On my 73, while adjusting pedal stop, should the clutch enguage right at the floorboard stop or 1/4 or more above the stop? These floorboards are pretty weak, even when new, so I'm wondering if hitting the stop with foot pressure is a good idea.

Drove mine for years without problems, never paid attention to it. Floorboards were fine. In good condition, they're very strong.

    Pedal Stop Adjustment

Correct procedure is to adjust cable length first to establish free play. When correct you can pull the pedal back from its rest position to all the way back and movement should be about 1/2-3/4" AFTER that is done you set the pedal stop. A good pressure plate will have an over center feel when fully depressed, that is at over center the effort gets easier (which is max disengagement by the way). Push the pedal down (by hand, better feel) and at the point where the pedal goes over center is where you set the pedal stop to keep the pressure plate from being stressed by excessive travel. The clutch should start to engage about an inch up from the stop.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. That's about were mine is engaging. What was confusing me was I thought that the clutch should grab right at pedal stop. I tried it there and it did not feel right so I moved the stop so now I have free play off stop.
