    66 Rear Engine Grill finish

    Hi,
    try the search button but couldn't fine anything

    Does any body know what is the finish on the 1966-67 rear engine grill? chrome, anodize or just polish?

    my restore guy chrome it but its already peeling

    Anodized. I cleand mine with a product call 'Never Dull' cotton saturated with some sort of cleaner. Available at most chain auto parts stores and always at truck stops. I'm sure other products out there but this one worked great for me, smells great too.

    I'd swear my '66 is chromed. Much different than the bars on my '68 which I'm reasonably sure are anodized.

    Chrome is deposited using the electroplate process. By far the safest, least destructive and most complete way to remove chrome-plating is to use the reverse process to "dechrome" the part.

    Back into the tank it goes and you reverse the polarity.

    what is the material the grill made out off? stainless or aluminum

    Aluminum including the long rods holding it all together if I remember correctly so be careful if your going to take it apart. If the acorn nuts are corroded you will break off threads. Ask me how I know.
