    METALUX paint system anybody familiar?

My favorite bpdy shop just chaniged to this system http://chemspec.co.za/metalux_range and Ive seen many cars they have done. I've got a 68 912 and a 73E that need paint after restoration, and Im contemplating using this new system. Any feedback appreciated. TIA, Bill

    "Metalux 2 is a direct toner-for-toner copy of BASF/Glasurit 55 and 22 line basecoat and 2k systems.

Hydrolux is a direct toner-for toner copy of BASF/Glasurit 90 line waterborne system.

Chemspec's swatch box is a direct copy of BASF's colourmax system. (compare the two, and see for yourself.)

This is a substandard system that is duplicated directly from another paint company at a lower cost. Great if you want a cheap alternative, but don't believe for a second that it is original and unique."

I have seen two cars done in Metalux (single stage) and they looked fabulous. The painter I spoke to also said they were a copy of the Glasurit Line22 single stage paints and that he very much liked using the products (had been using for 2 years). Can't comment on the clear-over-base lines.

The price really competitive and I'm very seriously considering giving it a try on my own restoration.

I read through the same threads linked above and there was clearly a 50/50 polarized split. "It ain't PPG bla bla bla..."
