    bump..

maybe i should clarify - there are several flavors of 12V aux or fog light relays, even from specific brand, with different specs. ie spst, spdt, and even then they have different specs with in those..

so.. anyone know which brand and relay type or spec i should use?

    Hmm. . . 100 watts x 2 bulbs divided by 14 volts equals 14.29 amps x 200% safety factor =28 amps rounding up to 30 amps.

Why not a Bosch or Hella 40A spst relay? There are also "bosch style" which means it's the standard five pin layout, 30, 85, 86, 87, 87a. If you see the 87a it's a double throw. These are cheaper than dirt, like four bucks, and you can find them anywhere in a pinch.

Check out the Hella relays here:

A regular spst would be what I would use. Some have a built-in fuse but I would prefer to have the fuse as close to the battery as possible, it doesn't do you any good if the fuse is right next to the lights, that will prevent an overload, but what do you care if the bulb burns up, you care if the wires to the relay chafe and short against the body sheetmetal, causing a fire!
