    Wtb - 901 lsd

Guys I have a very nice rally geared 901 5spd box that I would like an LSD for. Anybody have one they want to get rid of? Are there many after market alternatives? Perhaps something from VW?

VW LSDs are homemade - simply weld the spider gears together on your differential, then don't drive on the street too much.

I don't think any VW trans parts fit the 901 box.

If the trans is aluminium Guard Transmission has a beautiful unit with modern internals and will fit with eather type drive flange. If it is mag, Guard again. 1 888 89 Gears. Gordon

What version of the gearbox do you have? Type & serial # would help.
At one time I had a 904 LSD that fit an early 901 case, but there were other versions.

I have a 901/16 with a rally gear set in addition to the short R&P. It was a race box many years ago. Since I will be on some icy roads in my near future I think an LSD would be nice. I am not planning on serious track use at all but perhaps a time trial here and there. So an original would be nice if they are around and not too pricey.

GT makes a great diff but it is WAY more than I need for this application. I was hoping for a cheaper option...

Is it not a 902/16 with a 6:29 ring and pinion and what gears are in it? Not aware of a 901/16.

Yep, typing to fast, 902/16, I have a gear sheet somewhere for it. It was rather tight gear split up top with a long 1st starting things off.
