    WTB: sports seat countersunk screw

I am looking for at least one countersunk-head screw for a 1973 sports seat.

This is one of the 4 screws on each side that bolt the seat reclining mechanism to both the seat base and seat back.

the Porsche part number is 911 521 126 00 and it is part #31 in the attached diagram from PET.

Porsche tell me it is NLA and there is no superseded part - however as there are a number of sports seats being refurbished there must be a generic part around.

Mine are black with a alan key head and one has snapped. A photo of the good one and the head of the broken one is shown. They are about 2.5CM long

If there is a source of new alternate ones i think I will get 8 as without them in good condition the seat is not much good. Mine seems to have broken from fatigue.

    thanks in advance

Black with Allen head are wrong! They all should be silver Phillips head...

is that with black seat hardware, ie seat reclining mechanism etc?

mine is a very late 73 car - June manufacture - all are the same

but I am VERY happy to put 8 chrome and phillips head ones on if I can find them

just measuring the broken one it seems to be about 7mm diameter

Try Precision Automotive Restoration in Newburyport, Massachusetts. They have, or had, the correct philips head screws.

    Hi,

I have lots in stock and fit them to all the sport seats we restore. The ones we use differ in the fact they are stainless (A2). Sorry about the poor pic but here is a pic of some sport seats we did recently.

    Hi Hugh

A local fastener supplier should be able to supply a suitable screw, stainless is also fairly common these days. check fasteners-industrial or bolts and nuts in your yellow pages.

    cheers
