    Cost effective option to Heuers...

Looking for a set of Heuers the past year or so, and the prices are really up there.
Anywhere from around $1000/clock to as high as nearly $5000/clock I've seen.
Guess I didn't need a set of authentic Heuers that much.

Looking about on the internet, I came across these Herwins clocks.
Made in Switzerland...something of a Heuer replica I believe.
    Even look remotely like Heuers.
But at a price 75-50% less.
I picked up a set of new Herwins, stopwatch and clock, both for under $1000 total.
They have a very nice, heavy feel to them.
And are still a very high quality set of clocks (they weren't exactly cheap in their own right).

Made up a mounting plate over the weekend, and put some black wrinkle paint on it.
    Looks purposeful I believe.
Unsure if they will go on the glove box door (most likely place) or in place of the non-functioning radio?

Anyway, thought some folks would like to see these Herwins.

Very cool. I like the dials ... they look like airplane gauges.

I also found that Hanhart and Omega made some cool stuff, too. Vintage-correct at a fraction of the price...

    Thx.
Did look at the Hanharts's as well.
Liked the look of the Herwins better.

Max (SD)....those are some cool watches.
    Liked this one in particular:

Replaced the stainless steel screws with black allen heads instead.
    Looks better now?

Can you post a link or let us know where you found the Herwins? I was trying to purchase a pair about a year and a half ago and they weren't to be found anywhere.

    Thanks!

I like the contrast of the stainless screws better than the allens, but I am not excited about them being Phillips head. Stainless allens would be perfect.

    Just my $.02

A really nice looking Rally set, Doug.

The Heuers certainly have the cool factor thing going for them, but for what's actually inside of them, the $$$'s are just way out of whack. I took a Master Timer to a watchmaker a couple of year ago and he was aghast at its value vs the measly seven jewels & not every robust movement.

P.S. I vote for oval head, stainless phillips. Aren't you sorry that you asked? If you like it, that's all that counts!

    Good Work,
