    Wink Amalfitano Porsche Collection

Some strong results this afternoon at Bonhams, here are a few results:

    - 917 just over 4 million dollars

    - 910 just over 800.000 dollars

    - 3.0 RSR ( new tub) 380.000 dollars

    - 962 Group C just over 500.000 dollars

Some high prices for rare parts as well:

    - 917 Bosch injection pump $30.000
    - pair of 917 uprights and hub assembly unit $ 36.000
    - 917 titanium axle $ 12.000
    - dealership plexi sign ( no lighting system ) $4.200

It seemed that most rare parts were either purchased ny Gunnar or Fresinger

Yes, and it fetched a little over $ 135.000. I thought it could have made more.

Here is a link to Bonham's results:

    Thomas,

$4200 for the sign we talked about. Very surprising result with no lighting box.

I think at auction it must be. With the strength of the euros a few years ago, it's possible 917 exchanged hands privately for higher sums.

At the risk of sounding Porsche ignorant, I don't know who Michael is and why he has all of this historical stuff. Would you mind explaining who Michael is and how did he acquire this memorabilia?

    Relative of Milou?

He was a man who enjoyed life! Here's Mike's obit and a link to his "racing team" web site.

    Wink

Well, the memorabilia was quite dissapointing in quality. Mostly if not all reprints, and original material very recent or in poor condition.

Clearly he was more a racer than a memorabilia collector, so not a relative of mine.

Everybody in the trade is saying that he was an extremely nice man.

Just now at Bonhams, an RSR 3.0 (ex Daytona and Sebring) failed to sell with a last bid of $ 430.000.

Quite a strange market. Top cars with top history are fetching top (record?) prices while the rest is clearly struggling.

Two 912 (Targa and Coupe) from 1965 in average condition sold for 19 and 21.000 dollars, well below the estimates printed in the catalogue.

Lots of cars remained unsold or selling to a single bid.
