    Installing Recaro sport seats

I took out the original standard seats today and was going to put in the Recaro sport seats I picked up a couple of years ago. I do have the mountung rails for the sports seats.

    Couple of questions

    1) Do they mount in the same place as the originals?

    2) Where does the seat belt fix?

    3) I dropped one of the bolts, what size bolts are they The bolts near the transmission tunnel are longer that the bolts that fix seat that is closer to door.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Derek

Derek - do you have the tilting bases for the sport seats ?

The sport seats bolt (via 4 M8 hex bolts) to the tilting bases which, in turn, bolt to the floor by means of M6 'cheese head' machine screws.

The seatbelt receiver bolts to the tilting base.

Thanks Andy. Yes I have the tilting basis.

Need to change my profile Derek as I've now moved to the Midlands ... know SW London very well though as I grew up there (originally Putney).

You should come along to the DDK SW monthly meets at the Fairmile (between Esher & Cobham) - I think the next one's Wed of next week.

Yes they do bolt into the same floor mounting holes but require a bit longer screw (not sure of the length) other experts will know that I am sure. Do a quick run through of holes with tap to make life easy.

Thanks. That would make sense that the original screws would not work.

Anyone know what length screw/bolt I need?

Andy, mentioned size M6 but what length? Just picked up some M6 bolts today but not sure if long enough.

    Thanks

    Hi,

They are from memory 15mm long. They are also socket head M6, or also known as pan head. Here is another pic. This is a first 500 RHD RS. You can see the mounting bolts, but they should be zinc "yellow".

    Great, thanks Alan.

The M6 bolts that were in for the original seats were 20mm. So I think I need 25mm or 30mm to fit the sport seats.

For the seat belt buckle to attach to the seat base - Any particular bolts I need here?

Size and dimensions would be really helpful, want to try and get the seats in asap.

    cheers
