    Need a value opinion

Funny how i always have an easy opinion when other people's money is on the line but when it's my own....

Anywhoooo.....very close to pulling trigger on a '73 E that specs out as follows (after very comprehensive PPI):

2.7RS spec MFI motor (built on non original case; orig. case is included)

    freshened suspension

one repaint with a few issues as follows:
-bubbles in a few spots on front fenders
    -bubbles on rear qtr
    -paint described as 'driver quality'

motor has some 'seapage' in usual places including cam tower, oil cooler. owner says no drips, just typical seepage...shop seems to agree.

    Needs carrera tensioners.

compression good on motor. MFI done right (rebushed, etc etc)

    somewhat ratty interior

sunroof (which i don't want but am willing to live with for the right car).

maybe 15k on RS spec motor.

major systems (brakes, fuel lines, etc) gone through and well maintained (car did DE time).

    So.....whaddya think?

My concern is the bubbles and cost to fix. Seems most i talk with (shops) feel a full repaint would be warranted to avoid color matching issues and given 'while you're in there' marginal cost efficiencies.

My plan is to ax the car a lot and enjoy it as a weekend toy.

    Appreciate any input.

On eBay, you'd struggle to sell it for $10K-$12K right now. It sounds like a project. Is that what you're looking for?

    Few pics to help....
Can't quite see the interior issues (cracked dash, holes in rear panels from roll bar, imperfect headliner, etc.

One more of interior....maybe 'ratty' isn't quite the right word....more like 'needing some things'

Interior is a relatively minor issue though....not really worried about it but it does affect value so...

The car was recently on Ebay, it just ended on the 16th.
Search on Ebay the item number 280547573818 and you'll still find it.
He had a "buy now" of $32500 and someone made an offer for $29500 which he declined.
I tried to contact him but he didn't reply.
I think it is worth low twenties.

It does have the very rare cupholder option....all kidding aside, it looks like a car that is very drivable, well sorted out and perfect for how you want to use it. I'd go up to low twenties for it.

it sounds like the chassis is rust free, and the car overall is well done....I'd place it in the low $20's in this economy, but it sounds like the owner wants more....with both motors, I could see the value close to $25k, as long as the rust bubles are truly minor....if you will AX the car, you could leave the paint for now, or perhaps come up with a creative way to do a contrasting repaint in the affected areas (I'm assuming most of the bubbling is on the lower surfaces)

overall, the car seems to have a lot in common with my hotrod, so I'd love to see you pay $29k, but the reality is, it's a low $20's car.
