    Horn grills part #s

Can any tell me if there is a diffrent part # for the std. vs the cut out light grill? I have heard that the factory hand cut the std. grill to accomodate the Grill lights. As we all know the advertised OEM grills are over the moon in price.

If done properly, can any one tell diffrence between one or the other without part # ID?

    Grills

    Grill-master,

Maybe very early, 1967 SWB, grills were hand cut at the factory but early on they were OEM cast with cut-outs. You can cut standard grills and work them, the ends of the grill are tapered on the OEM factory versions)..there are some articles you can find my searching from folks who have made grills. It will be cheaper..if you do it yourself..and don't rechrome. Mostly, folks don't talk about time and cost when they make their own. IMHO, if you include your time even at a low rate, it wil be cheaper to buy them, as expensive as they are.

As for LWB grills, PET info below, they were always OEM cast . However, in 1973 the grills were black plastic and the ends were not taperd. Some think the factory did modify standard ones to make those (there is a different part number, not shown here, for black grills w and w/o cutouts). In any case, if you have a '73 you CAN make the cut-out ones that are undectable from factory.

    Hope this helped.

For 69-72 chromed plus 73 if factory equipped TTG fog/driving lights:

    Regular horn grills: Left 911.559.431.00
    Right 911.559.432.00

    Fog Light Grills: Left 901.559.431.28
    Right 901.559.432.28

I don't believe they were hand cut. From the originals I have I'm sure they were a different casting. Now, if you had a set that was carefully cut/finished from factory original grills and then re-Chromed it would be difficult to tell the difference unless you had an original pair right next to the cut pair.

By the way....My part numbers are right out of the 71 Parts manual. PET bugs me a bit because it never clearly shows superceded numbers.
