I had always thought that 1969 was the last year the swt's were sold, only a few hundred?
However I was surprised to find one from 1971 and just purchased it, all correct, see COA....
Anyone who has more info on this?
Thanks!!
Henk.

Henk,
You know the drill by now ...
From memory from this site, the soft targas were a special order from '70 onwards.
Cheers,
Dennis.

FYI, I have had 911 111 1751 sitting covered in my back yard since 05/03. It is a weathered project car. Not a lot of point in including an image.
I am believe I logged one 1972 softie, but it may not have been factory. With the my car's present condition I don't feel it is significant if it is the last softie or not.

EC is selling 119210114 which is advertised as a spl order soft window 911 E Targa with Sportomatic.
In this instance, the "soft retractable window" notation is missing from the CoA.
Good looking car 'though.

Interesting, perhaps in 1969 the soft window was still stock for the Targa for the US? I do know that in Europe the targa's in 1969 were standard delivered with a glass window.
I genuinly would like to know more about this, any others who have more info or examples?
Thanks, Henk.

No Henk. In U.S. in 1969 the SWT was history as far as standard offering. The hard window was standard. Back in the day, the SWT, the plastic window was a pain, faded, cracked, etc. Plus, and this is totally IMHO, the SWT with the window down and the top off, look really goofy from some angels. Just my opionion and beauty is totally in the eye....In fact, same of the Targa, right? Targas have their fans and in later years were close to 50% of production...etc..etc...Plus, back in the day again, when these were daily drivers..the Targas after a few years leaked. I had one myself in 1976 or so. It was a 71..and leaked like crazy in Florida rain where I was in the Navy at the time.

There are reports of a 1973, but no details to confirm it.

Hereby some pictures of a Sandbeige 1970 2.2 S softwindow.
That is one the coolest postings I've seen on this board for a while. Sand Beige looks great ..

If memory serves (which it probably doesn't), Don Murray owns the last soft-window targa built.
