    1970 911S 2.2 sports purpose?

    Hi all,

In (some of) the 1970 911 prospectus(es), the 911S was, as I believe, listed as a sport purpose model, next to the standard T and E (see picture).

Can any of you clarify the specs of that model? Were light weight panels and parts used?

    Best regards,

    Marco

    Hi Marco,

The S model was the basis for the sports purposes model ie, ST.
Look at tom (Flunders) excellent thread on S, to ST build.
You will find everything you ever wanted to know regarding the S to sports purposes model.

I am on the same journey.

    Regards

    Hi Dave,

I will check out that thread, thanks. I find the picture I posted intreaging because it is a narrow bodied S, without the bumperoverriders, without the rubber bumper lines, stickered Porsche letters and minimized engine lid grid. And pictured in that trim beside the standerd T and E.

    Br,
    Marco

Marco, That car is rumoured to be a prototype for the Sports purposes model.
Search, ultimate ST thread, plenty of discussion on that, and other S, to ST sports purposes models.
