    engine sheet metal screws

Does anyone know of a source for yellow cadmium sheet metal screws (bolts)for engine sheet metal on longhoods? A photo of the correct piece would be welcomed.

    Thanks in advance,

new ones are available from pelican.
they are not exact repros, rather sunken hex heads with attached washer.
original are "karro"(IIRC) with separate washers.
only place to get those is at a salvage yard.

I have plenty of the correct OEM nuts and bolts removed from 911 engines. They would need to be replated but are original.

PM me with your email for details.

    Tom,

Thank you, but I am short of time and could not get them refinished in time for my immediate need. If I can't find some ready to install and the event passes, them maybe we can do a deal.

What does Porsche sell, these days? Last time that I bought from them, around four years ago, I got very nice yellow zinc plated screws with captive washers. The head markings didn't match the originals, but they looked great, and they were brand new.

The screws with captive washers are "sems"

If you buy the Stoddard kit you get a B-Y headmark which is Taiwanese, not right.

New Porsche hardware can be original German, like Karro, or some Taiwanese headmarks, it varies. I bought some new 12.9 property-class black zinc M12 screws for the brake calipers, these were Karro 12.9. On the other hand I bought some new M10 for the struts and these were Y-G (a headmark I never heard of).

Original fasteners are best for show, however in the critical areas, you really should exercise judgment as to the extent that old fasteners are stretched or corroded. Certain spots (like brake caliper mounting bolts) are pretty important so originality takes a back seat at least until you get to the concours field.
