October 10th fun run So Cal- pre Willow tour

October 10th run so cal. Palmdale are to Pine Mountain Club / Pine Mountain Road House for lunch

    Meeting time : 9:00 am
Meeting place: Corner of Tierra Subida and Elizabeth Lake Road (Palmdale Bl exit from Hwy 14. Go west to T.S. , make a left , then a quick right into the shopping center there - Arco station in the center)
Who is invited? Anyone with a nice fun attitude that is courteous to others. Non P cars welcomed

ROUGH directions (please feel free to post mileage here, as i am compooter challenged )

FILL UP your tank ! We will not be waiting for you while you "take just a minute" to fill up during the drive

Go west on Elizabeth Lake Road. This is also known as county road N2
Continue on ELR to T intersection. Note that Johnson Road is to your right and Elizabeth Lake Road continues to your LEFT
So LEFT on ELR and follow thru, pass the lake (on your left), thru town, and continue.
Elizabeth Lake Road becomes Pine Canyon with no notice, but continue on Pine Canyon till you come to (not a mistake here) Pine Canyon and turn LEFT. There is a meadow on the corner with a large pine tree in the middle and a Renault chassis is probably still there too.
Though this road can get a lil dusty here and there, the twisties here are challenging. Just remember its a two way road !
Follow this to the stop sign, which is the Old Ridge Road. To your left is and Sandberg hill climb course if you want to visit this section up and back. Be mindful people live here so will notice their still morning air shattered by the wail of a pack of flat sixes
Anyway, you want to make a right at the Stop sign , if not visiting hilltop Sandberg, and be careful of our own that might be winding themselves down from the hill too.
So... you are now driving down the Old Ridge Road that will come to the bottom of the hill. This stop sign is highway 138 . For those of you going to run at Willow on monday with Early S and R Gruppe, remember this road. You will be taking it back to the hwy 14 to get to Willow Springs LEFT onto 138. A short distance west to your right is Quail Lake
Follow 138 to hwy 5 north

Follow hwy 5 to Frazier Mountain exit- bottom of ramp LEFT

Plenty of gas stations for rest stop to the west of the fwy
Follow Frazier Mountain road past Frazier, past Lockwood and it changes name to Cuddy Valley Road

Follow CVR to Mil Potero and turn RIGHT

Follow Mil Potrero to Pine Mountain Club. You will see a golf green meadow on your right and immediately to your left is the Pine Moutain Road House, aka Squirrel Club , aka many other names over the years. If you passed the gas station (nose bleed pricing there) you went too far

    This is our lunch stop

After lunch- you have 3 options for more fun driving:
    1) retrace your steps to the 5, 138 , etc or just take the 5 south
    2) retrace your steps to Lockwood turn off (where Cuddy Valley Road becomes Frazier Mountain again) and turn right. This road is a weird mix of earthquake designed turns, long straights, and twisties. It will finally reach hwy 33, where you can make a left and end up in Ojai. From Ojai you can go to the 101, or follow 150 (left in ojai) back to moorpark/ thousand oaks area
    3) follow Mil Potrero north where it becomes Cerro Noroeste. This ridge route is a very cool twisty that eventually meets up with the 33 (Santa Maria / Maricopa section) If you have the time, you owe yourself the rest of the afternoon to do this loop- when you get to 33 , turn left, then left again onto 33 back to Ojai (see option 2)

Please post who is going for sure inc lunch stop (they have burgers and chicken, salads) so i can let them know what to expect
I will keep updating this list daily

FWIW- There are a bunch of us running at Streets of Willow Monday, so this would be a fun pre-run so to speak !

Thanks and lets have a safe fun drive !

we have about 15 cars coming, as of today= cool !
