which is correct front bumper guard for long hood?

I've seen two versions of the front bumper guards for 69-72's. One has a black plastic piece behind the top section. The other is all metal with a slot across the top rear of the bumper guard. Which is factory correct?

    Thanks in advance,

Both, at some point the factory switched to the plastic back. The repros are plastic back and I have a call into Maurice LaFond to figure out whether the new ones are plastic or metal. They are probably plastic.

Here's a photo of the version with the slots at the top. What years are these correct?

356robo; Assuming that there are rubber pad on the face of the guard, and the small contour for the non s` deco profile, my guess is for a 1967 911/912.1968`s might have the same chrome slot too, not sure though.....Cliff

Non S. The cutout for the regular deco rather than the larger flat faced "S" deco.

As to what year - just a guess - 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969? The rubber face was added to the standard guard as a dealer/owner upgrade. (because the bumper deco is standard.)

The "with slot" and "without slot" is in conversation with the 1964/65 crowd.
Car #27 has one of each from the factory.
