as much as i love Top Gear, im saddened. they are showing it on History (aka, reality tv crap that used to have history programming). no matter how cool top gear is, it doesnt make up for the lack of programming that was educational and interesting and actually about history. it doesnt make up for the abomination that they call programming these days, like sharp shooters, ice road truckers, swamp people, pawn stars, stan lee's superhumans etc).

i am grateful for top gear, but they should have put it on speed, or verses, or spike. i miss when the history channel used to be about history.

Same with discovery. I only get the normal discovery at school, not the science channel or the other spin offs. I can never find a day without good stuff on science channel here in Thousand Oaks. I watch that all the time, then turn to Speed on the weekends. The normal discovery is about gory fishermen gutting those Swordfish (are they a protected species?), and then they go after history with the Swamp Logger show and what is this Colony? I can see why the nutcase took that hostage and all in their headquarters.

On the plus side, National Geographic is half great and half disgusting stuff, and I get that at school. And, I get BBC America so I get Top Gear- the real one.

Since we're talking about programming TVs, here's my $.02:

The HD Channel is the best. It has Isle of Man TT racing in HD. Argument over.

    Note to self:
3 event that I MUST attend in person before I die!

    Isle of Man TT
    Goodwood Festival of Speed
    Reno Air Races

Perhaps the subject of an off topic thread, must see events??

Better hurry, Peter. It's been rumored that the Reno Air Races may be going the way of the Dodo before too long.

oh no doubt, when it comes to motorsports entertainment. but i like a wide range of topics, and am a huge history geek. it just sucks that they cant keep any integrity on most cable channels these days.

but there is no argument there, isle of man tt on hd theater is incredible.

HD theatre is awesome. Watch it all the time. I like the Mecum auctions and Chasing Classic Cars too.

I used to have Speed but not anymore. Too much Pinks and NASCAR for me.
