Again, post #13 Alu die cast 80mm stud spacing 901 xxx xxx 7R. Post #14 Alu sand cast 83mm stud spacing 911 xxx xxx 0R. I built the engine in post 13 so I'm pretty sure about dimensions. And yes sand cast case came in 3.0 RS and 3.0 RSR's.

Yes, apparently Porsche used both types of aluminium cases for the last few 2.7 RS's - die cast (7R) and sand cast (0R). Which one was Silumin?

The 2.7 was the Silumin crankcase. May of 73. I believe that chassis 1387 in light ivory was the car to homologate the crankcase. It was a car here in Portland for a long time.

I recently purchased a 1969T with a 3.2 short stroke motor. I had some free time today to look deeper into the case numbers. My case number is 911.101.104.4R. I suspect it is an early turbo case referencing the numbers listed in this thread. It looks like the 4R was re-stamped. Is there any significance to this? Sorry the pic is upside down

Thanks Van. I know little about the 934/935/936/956/962 variants yet. Perhaps you may be willing to assist me with those?

Guys...you all seem to know a significant amount about engine case numbers and how they relate to which car.

    I have the following...

    901.101.102.7R
    6459087

    &

    901.101.102.7R
    6461268

Amy help identifying these would be awesome...

    Hi all,

I just stumble upon this tread while i am searching for answers of my newly purchased old engine

    Case number 901.101.101.0R & 901.101.102.0R
    Engine number 4080424

I am guessing its a 1968 2.0 with an aluminium case?

    Have a nice weekend.

    Interesting post,...

Does anybody know the aluminum alloy of the early engine case?
