Weber air screens for 40 &46IDA3Cs

I have just made a batch of these hard to source air screens as used on race application Weber IDA 3C type carburetors. Originally supplied with 46mm IDA 3C carburetors for the 904/6, 906, 911R and various Weber carbureted race and rally cars these air screens filter debris that would normally enter the fuel bowl and plug the idle mixture jets. No longer available from Weber these air screens were duplicated from original air screens maintaining the same gauge and profile brass frame and screen material and are soldered as were the originals. Sold as a set of four screens with installation cheese head screws included.

I sell these for $150 per set of four with cheese head screws and split lock washers and if you live in California I must add tax. Shipping via USPS Small Flat Rate box.

I'm in the process of making air horn screens as well so we may stop using tea strainers in the near future.

Id like to know the effect of removing the tall narrow vent tubes. 356-912 Solex 40PII early carbs had similar tubes that caused them to flood in sharp corners. They were superceded by low wide vent tubes which were better.

    Paul,

I am new to this so ignore what might be an ignorant question but I recently bought a '72 so I am wondering if this is something that I would need for my 2.4 in a current unmodified state or is this something I would consider in an upgrade? The information is appreciated so i can make a decision.

These air screens fit all 40IDA3C type carbs, whether made in Italy, Spain or USA.

They are for those not using air cleaners so they probably are not needed by you, Dean.

The IDS carbs had short vent pipes (22mm long) with a 4.5mm ID where the IDAs had tall pipes (8mm OD x 50mm long) with 6mm ID. The 46mm Webers for race applications had no vent pipes and the hole in the top cover was 4mm in diameter. Sure would like some info here, I assume the racers didn't mind a little fuel coming out the top cover.

Currently offered by eBay: Item number: 370446230254.
