FS: 1967 Factory Correct Rally Build

** CAR IS SOLD - GOING TO A GREAT HOME **

This one really hurts, but I'm starting a new company and I anticipate that cash flow will ebb more than flow for a while. This is my Bahama Yellow '67 SWB Factory Correct Rally Build.

P.S. You will find the same link on the web page, but here is the full documented list of NOS rally parts, numbers and sources. I thought it might be useful to have a link to it as a reference from the Registry site.

No John! Say it isn't so!

Must be like selling off a member of the family for you.

An AMAZING car and certain to be enjoyed by whomever is lucky enough to bring it home.

Best of luck with the sale and the same for your new business.

I second that. It was a great read in the Esses.

    John,
This car is one of the few SWB's that really defines this board and its membership. Sorry to hear that this one is moving on and hope it finds a good home within the SReg or RGruppe.

This is the only place I have it listed. While it's an over-used cliche, I really do want this car to go to a proper home.

To give you a bit more information as to my motivation... I have been in internet marketing for the past 15+ years. In that period of time I have started and subsequently sold a number of companies. But there's something I've always wanted to do, which is to work with the non-profit sector. The company I'm launching, called 510 Strategies, will provide internet management services to non-profits. While it will be a for-profit company, my hope is that if we are successful we can allocate a portion of our profits to cover our fees for those we want to help and can't afford to pay. My intent is to launch this company a little bigger out of the gate vs. the boot-strapping model I have always followed in the past as I'm not getting any younger. Thus the need for capital.

Thanks to everyone for all of the positive comments - I really appreciate it.

    Cheers,
    JohnA

Just listed this on the Bird and the PCA sites. I realize it's a big ticket item so probably need to broadcast it a bit more widely.

RM is interested in putting it on the auction block at Amelia Island. They say that it's a good venue for vintage Porsches and they would put a range of $125,000 to $150,000 on it in their catalog. Maybe it's worth a try if they're willing to walk their talk and accept a $100,000 reserve. I've never tried to sell a car at auction before - any words of advice from those with experience?

    Thanks,
    JohnA

    John,

If you go with an auction sale, I would highly recommend you accept the lowest possible estimate you can live with, i.e. the one closest to your reserve price, so usd 100-150.000 or possibly usd 90-120.000. Your reserve price cannot be higher than the low estimate.

Auctions tend to seduce vendors with inflated estimates but it has the exact opposite effect with potential bidders, who will feel discouraged if the suggested price range is too high from the outset.

The lower the estimate, the more bidders you will get. These underbidders will not only push the price up, but play an important role in boosting the confidence of the final bidder, who will feel greatly reassured to see that other people are pursuing your car, and push his bids even further...
