    excessive oil pressure

    so, I bought the hotrod in april, I guess I can say I hadn't driven it in really cool temps until this past weekend.

    oil pressure was always on the high side of normal, I'd see 100psi at startup...

    until this past weekend, very cool temps (40's) at a DE at watkins glen, I'd see almost 140 at startup, got me nervous.

    got to looking at the 3.0L oil sender, looks like it's setup for an SC gauge, part number 911-606-111-01, so I ordered a correct '72 sender calibrated for a 140 or 150psi gauge, hope that fixes the problem.

    anyone see flaws in my logic?

    ok, so which is the correct oil pressure sender?

    It seems there are 2 different thread sizes, smaller and larger....since I have oil fed tensioners, I need larger....but it needs to be calibrated to my gauge, which is 100psi, or I guess 7 bar.

    I have a 3 liter in my '73 using the original '73 gage. I can help you with the right combination of hardware and sender to make yours work properly.

    The oil pressure relief valve can stick and cause high oil pressure.
