    Porsche: One for the Road

I finally got around to uploading this from a DVD I have of this cool, old movie. The quality is not very good but there are all kinds of interesting details to be gleened from watching and rewatching it over and over.

I have tried to find an original copy of this but not even the Porsche archieve has one. If anyone out there knows of one maybe we could put up a better copy. In the meantime enjoy.

Way cool ! Great build footage. Gotta be a way to dub in modern music though...

    Thanks for sharing Brian.

I always wondered where those clips on Youtube came from. Jack Olsen had it in installments. Where did you get the DVD? I would like to have it and the "Made By Hand" movie about 356 fabrication.

Hey man, I think the music's groovy.

Yeah, I knew you would enjoy this and I thought of you when I uploaded it. So, what do you see?

    Flieger,

Yes, Jack did put this on Youtube about 5-6 years ago in segments. I got the DVD at the first Treffen I went to back in '03. Probably Jack got his at the same time. I think you can down load the entire movie from the Vimeo site and then burn your own DVD.

    Flieger,
'Made by Hand' should be still available from the 356 Registry shop.
    I paid us$20 for mine at Monterey '09 - M & M Enterprises.

Just because there are no 912s in the film doesn't mean it isn't interesting.

    Brian and all.........

It was me who sold the DVDs at the R Gruppe event those many years ago.

It was a joint venture between me and another member who had the video.

    I think the story goes:
He had rented the film, yes the film, through the PCA national to show to his local PCA meeting back in the early 80's. BTW-He said it was one of many Porsche films the PCA had to rent. At that point he made a copy of the film to VHS and kept it forever. On a visit to his house around '2000 he showed me the video and I flipped out. He asked if anyone would have any interest in it to buy, I said yes, and he let me have the VHS to copy to DVD.

I made two runs of 100 and sold them out... and that was the total enterprise.

I kept 2 for my own.

The quality is what it is:
A DVD 'chain run', from a VHS copy, of a 16mm film copy of the original factory promotional release.

Hope this helps.... and hope I don't get a knock at the door in the middle of the night
