    A small, fun SWB project

The photos tell it all. Dimensions are 2mm thick by 10mm wide by 195mm long. The hole is about 5mm.

The rubber is Mcmaster 86495K344, 2mm thick high-strength Buna-N rubber.

You can't really cut it with scissors and have the lines straight. I scored it with a very sharp knife and then tore it along the score, worked fine.

I need to get a punch for the holes, a paper punch is too big. A 3/16 punch is probably about right, 3427A57, or I could pay twice as much for a 5mm punch but I kind of doubt I have that many 5mm holes to make.

Enjoy! This is one of those things that SWB owners have to replace from time to time, the strips get thin at the ends with the holes and fall off.

    Yes John,
those are the rubber spaces between the engine grill and the lid. When the correctly painted lid has the black inset these are not very evident.
Most were not replaced if the grill was ever removed for a repaint, but those very original cars still have them.
Good find and project. Your car just gets better.
    Thank you ....again.
