Is there something wrong with this engine number?

I have a similar case I am thinking of selling and wanted to watch this one for reference. The number is higher than what I show in my book for a 1970 911E 911/04 engine. My book says 620 8001 - 620 8434. The numbers in the photo don't look quite right to me. Am I missing something?

There are a few things odd with the engine number. It certainly does not match the type # for one thing.
If it was a 1969 engine, it would have a build # next to the type #; I conclude the type # is okay.

The number looks like 6291465 in the photo, and I withhold any judgment on how it looks, as it is not the best pic, but that series belongs to the '69 911E type 901/09 1991cc engine, according to the Stoddard charts (6290001-6292270). Either the type # or the serial number is wrong, it would seem.

This is the response I got from the seller:

On closer examination, I suspect that the case was a replacement case that has been stamped - the serial number looks to be shallow and the font looks a bit off - as well there is no production # below the type stamp.
I had a 69E replacement case a while back and it had the type #, but no case serial #, so I think this is a 70 replacement case that someone stamped with a 69#.

    Hmmm?

I saw the listing when it was first posted on eBay and thought the serial number looked odd/incorrect.
