1968 was the start of Three 911 Models which lasted for some time. They had the detuned T (for ROW), the "normal" which was the 911L (and engine) for ROW and the S; three levels of tune. In the U.S., we only had one level of tune (same engines): 911 (normal) and 911L (same engine). The U.S. did not have the further detuned and lower priced T that had just been introduced for ROW. In 1969 we all got T, E and S.

That is a rare car --1 of 720 made Euro spec-- No side reflectors- factory, no smog pump on engine and the Webers are special for ROL 911's. . They have ther own model number. How Do I know? I just bought A Euro Spec 911L Sporto. And It has the small 912 type bumper trim. All US 911L cars have the S rim on the bumpers. So that is unique as well. That is a good price for a low numbers 911. I believe you are in good shape if someone owns a low number made car. The us cars made shows to be 5,449 made.

Please see my chart above. Long existing typos show impossible numbers. U.S. 911L Coupes is 449, rarer than ROW 911L.

Lot of good info here. Interesting stuff. I don't know where the car came from, don't know how it got into this country. I have reciepts back to 76, but nothing that looks to show how it got here. Here's an engine shot, is that what you are talking about by ribbed? I really wish I could keep it, but I don't have the time or finances to do what I would like to do to it, and I think it would do better in someone else's hands.

Please post pictures of the bottom of the car, the front pan, jack points, bottom of doors. Want to see rust or no rust. Thanks.

Now that I think of it --If we have 1400 to1700 average made 911S per year. Why would the factory make 5,449 US 911L coups. But on the other hand if the 911L was to replace the 911S for 1968, why only 449 made? Wouldnt they make say 1000 or 1200 cars for the largest porsche market? Chris

I forgot to mention that it does have the Webasto gas heater in the smuggler's box. Would need to be rebuilt.

Here is what I have at the moment
