Jim Schrager and I spent hours and hours figuring out and publishing (his book http://www.amazon.com/Buying-Driving...9&sr=1-1-fkmr0) The most accurate early 911 numbers. Please see my chart above and his book for more years (or search threads on this board) Thanks.

BTW, if you use Barth's book for 1968 models vis a vis our chart in this thread it will ALL make sense. For '68, aside from a couple typos/mistakes (obvious if you really study the VINs) in the these confusing VINs, Barth's book confirms our charts.

HI Allen-- What is the name of book please. After driving a LWB car for 12 years, I am a new owner of a SWB 911L as well. So this data about SWB is all new to me. Thanks Chris Early S Reg#205

Please click on the link to amazon above. It is a longish title: "Buying, Driving and Enjoying the Porsche 911 and 912, 1965-1973"

How about some engine shots and more of the interior (we'll help you sell this car yet!)

    Raj,

Cost, between markets, hard to equate due to exchange rate and competitive pressures, in various countries. HP ratings 110, 130 and 160 for the applicable engines did not capture other performance and drive ability factors; I'd not be surprised that non-smog equipped engines ran better (and cooler). Yes '68 in the U.S. had those four silly side reflectors which were often removed on the first repaint. Other features such as steering lock and hazard and fog-light, if equipped, operation varied by country due to laws and marketing considerations. But Raj, you know all this!

I was told by someone that the gearbox was too early a gearbox, but according to the Red Book, it's the right one. Anyone care to chime in?

Hi Davisriley-- If you look on page 12 of the Red Book; you will see under "Transmissions"---Type902/1. This is for the chapter 1964 through 1967 cars. Your tranny might be a 1966 0r 67 Trans. If you look on page 18, the tranny for 911L is listed as Type902/01. Chris
